Maurice Soles
A member of the original Clinton 12 has passed away. According to an obituary posted at Holley-Gamble funeral homes, 70-year-old Maurice Soles passed away on Thursday at Methodist Medical Center.
Soles was one of the original Clinton 12 and a member of Mt. Sinai Baptist Church.
The Clinton 12 were the first African-American students to attend Clinton High School which was the first school in the Southeast to integrate.
Soles loved fishing and spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He also served in the US Army.
The family will receive friends on Monday December 26th from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Mt. Sinai Baptist Chruch.
A funeral will be held at 3:00 p.m. with interment following. Holley-Gamble Funeral home in in charge of the arrangements.
